She is passionate about leadership and deeply committed to the values underpinning the work in the public sector, whether it be civil service or local government. Mhairi has worked with, coached and facilitated senior leadership in many Sectors including Education, Health and Social Care, Housing, Defence and the Treasury. Mhairi also has considerable experience in working with senior managers and political members in local government nationally (partnering frequently with the Local Government Association) and internationally.
Mhairi has recently refocused on her passion for promoting a wider talent pool of women leaders and is currently coaching and facilitating interventions aimed at growing the numbers of women leaders in technology.
As an executive coach Mhairi’s overall approach is not to “fix things” but to partner the client to discover strengths, understand the “interference”, uncover potential and develop strategies for high performance. This approach provides a welcome holding, balancing, redirecting and productive space for leaders to do their best work. She is an accredited coach and has been a member of the International Coaching Federation since 2007. She has recently received accreditation as a Narrative Coach in 2020.
Mhairi is qualified in the use of MBTI and is an accredited practitioner of Cognitive Edge, an international network which focuses on the use of narrative and complexity theory in strategy and policy making. In 2003 she gained her Masters in Group Relations and Organisations.
